Pope Francis dies after final address called for ending war on Gaza
Pope Francis was a rare leader who brought the world’s attention to the Palestinian people’s desperate yearning for freedom and the right to live with dignity in their homeland. In his final address, he called for the ending of the war in Gaza.
Through his humility and gestures—at once simple and profoundly moving—he embraced the suffering of the Palestinian people, ministered to the refugees and the homeless in Gaza, and in doing so, shook world leaders from their complacency. He reminded us all that we are bound, by both religious and moral duty, to stand with those who struggle for freedom and dignity.
May we continue to heed his call to “never remain on the sidelines of this march of living hope.”
كان البابا فرنسيس قائدًا نادرًا لفت انتباه العالم إلى توق الشعب الفلسطيني المُلحّ إلى الحرية والحق في العيش بكرامة في وطنه ، كما دعا في كلمته الأخيرة قبل وفاته الى ضرورة وقف الحرب في غزه.
بتواضعه ولفتاته – البسيطة والمؤثرة في آنٍ واحد -احتضن معاناة الشعب الفلسطيني، وكرر دعواته للاجئين والمشردين في غزة، مُحرّكًا بذلك قادة العالم للتخلي عن تهاونهم. كما ذكّرنا جميعًا بأننا مُلزمون، بواجبنا الديني والأخلاقي، بالوقوف إلى جانب أولئك الذين يناضلون من أجل الحرية والكرامة.
فلنُصغي دائمًا إلى دعوته “ألا نبقى أبدًا على هامش مسيرة الأمل هذه”.
